Another amazing tiring, flat-out exhausting demo marathon at MozFest’s 2014 event “Science Fair”. And this year, slightly more bearded men than last year.

Just spent a day laying down the Drums parts with Niall Acott at NJA Audio Productions for the first 6 tunes from The Dees‘ new album.
Happy Ada Lovelace day 2014! Today we had Neil Hurley and Georgiana visiting from University College Dublin to demonstrate Insight4News.
Had a great night at Dreambags and in Hoxton. Was planning to meet with Andy Matthews too, but he got stuck at work.
Just had a great day today with Simiao Yu and Dr Chao Wu from Imperial College London. We’re getting started on some work around Neurotechnology feedback loops and media experiences.
Hannah Blake and I made a trip to Salford today to look at some developments in BBC R&D, and also at the shiny, new Blue Room in BBC Salford.
Quite an intense workshop today, discussing personalisation, recommendations and how we are going to prioritise in more of the great plans around myBBC.
Simon Mackie was just passing the 10 year mark at BBC, and he decided to get the old BBC Science and Nature folks together. Great evening. We shared some old tales, and talked a little about what’s been happening since.
A new opportunity has arisen, and the BBC News Labs Team decided to look into it. The question posed was “How might we contextualise the Education Curriculum with News and Current Affairs?”
I’ve just spent 2 days at the Eurovision Academy looking at digital storytelling formats & challenges with a group of European Public Broadcasters. Fascinating.
Wendy has recently started a new business – “Story Boat” – that provides Performance Storytelling sessions for schools, Storytelling for adults, and Storytelling Workshops. She has just given the first sessions, which have gone down very well.
Hosted by Steve Herrmann, we ran an Audience Session for the “Future of News” project today. George Wright, Miles Bernie and I showed some prototypes.
I must recommend Kenwood House in North London – a wonderful place to spend an afternoon relaxing.

Today I popped to visit Niall Acott down Maidstone way, and we recorded the drums for one of his tunes – “Faith Forever” – at Ten21 Studios.
I am exceptionally pleased that today it was formally announced (at the BBC News monthly comms session) my position of Head of BBC News Labs.
The Bricklayers Arms is a good venue for an after-work troubleshooting and brainstorming workshop.
Had a great night at The Proms with Wend. The Royal Albert Hall is amazing – haven’t been there in a while.
