Hannah Blake and I made a trip to Salford today to look at some developments in BBC R&D, and also at the shiny, new Blue Room in BBC Salford.
Quite an intense workshop today, discussing personalisation, recommendations and how we are going to prioritise in more of the great plans around myBBC.
A new opportunity has arisen, and the BBC News Labs Team decided to look into it. The question posed was “How might we contextualise the Education Curriculum with News and Current Affairs?”

I had the pleasure of hosting Takanobu from NHK, Japan’s public service broadcaster, yesterday at the central lab. Takanobu joined us for our fortnightly team catch up, and ran a interview with me too. NHK are also thinking about building their innovation work, and so are looking at the possible models for this.
We just finished a great event with the Connected Studio in Belfast: The News Archive Build Studio. Following on from the Creative Studio events in London and Belfast, and the earlier briefings in London and Belfast, this event saw 8 teams create 8 prototypes, all of which will go into audience testing.
