Climate Change Experiment Participation

Climate Change Experiment – Innovation with Oxford University AOPP

In 2006 & 2007, my team at BBC Science & Nature collaborated with Oxford University Department of Atmospheric, Oceanographic and Planetary Physics (AOPP) on the largest climate change experiment ever.

We worked with AOPP to embed the Met Office’s weather prediction software – HADCM2 – into a computer screensaver, so that we could use people’s spare computing power to run climate prediction models.

Over 250,000 people downloaded the screensaver, and took part in the climate change projection experiments.
