In a frantic year of News Labs’ activity & growth, I have neglected to cover off the great #newsHACK 2 event we held on May 1st & 2nd this year – about 8 weeks ago!
We held the event simultaneously, linked via live video by BBC R&D’s StageBox, in Dublin and Glasgow.

24 teams took part, and you can see the final 22 prototypes on HackerLeague here, and the Winners here.
The Times & FT teams – the winners from #newsHACK II Dublin & Glasgow respectively – went on to win 1st and 2nd prize at the GEN #EditorsLab Finals in Barcelona, against the winners from some 13 other #EditorsLab events globally during the 2013-2014 season.
Evangeline, the GEN #EditorsLab programme manager, said the “the level of quality from #newsHACK was really high”.
Good luck to Nathalie Malinarich, Dima Jarkas and Sam French next year when they take their “BBC News team” place in the 2014-15 #EditorsLab finals!!
